Although BCA Director Suwignyo Budiman revealed that the frequency of transactions through ATM was higher compared to online transactions, but the fact was that amount transacted through internet-banking exceeded transactions through ATM, reaching between Rp 50 trillion (US$4.5 billion) and Rp 60 trillion (US$5.4 billion) per month.

Budiman's statement was the background of Suwandi's projection of internet-banking growth. According to Budiman, the huge transaction values come from from business sector and corporates. "Massive transactions are actually from companies and corporations," Suwandi said.

Meanwhile, as for personal users, Suwandi estimated that the frequency of internet-banking through PCs and cellphones will increase drastically this year. "I estimate that it would reach its climax in 2010, or when the WiMax is installed in the country," said Suwandi.

In addition to internet-banking, Suwandi said that mobile-banking or phone-banking growth will also significantly increase this year.
