VIVAnews - Indonesian Police Chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri said that police is trying to block funds belonging to PT Antaboga Delta Sekuritas' customers which have been transferred to Europe.
"We are still processing the funds that are being kept in Europe," said Gen. Bambang Hendarso on Monday, Feb 2.
He stressed that police cannot work alone in blocking the funds.
Indonesian Police HQs had previously been informed of the accounts. "We have been informed of the issue earlier," said Head of Crime and Investigation at the Indonesian Police HQs, Comm. Gen. Susno Duadji on Tuesday, Jan 27.
The investigation that Indonesia Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) carried out showed that Robert Tantular, owner of PT Antaboga Delta Sekuritas, had transferred customers' funds to a European country.
Duadji said that to trace Antaboga's funds, it is not enough of only being informed of the destination account and the deposited sums. According to him, there are numerous issues that must be resolved to trace the funds of Antaboga customers.
The customers were scammed by discretionary fund, an investment product that Antaboga Delta Sekuritas issued. Total of customers' losses is estimated to have reached Rp 1.5 trillion (US$130.8 million).
Given the situation that the product was marketed through Bank Century, the customers demanded that the bank returned their investment. However, Century's new management declined the request because the discretionary fund is not a product of banking.
