VIVAnews - Indonesian national airline Garuda Indonesia is being audited by a team of safety audit from Australia. In the auditing processes, the team is allowed to enter the cockpit and will go along the audited plane wherever it flies.
"This has been going on for two months. Is it crucial that they should enter the cockpit? What is being audited? It is an insult to the system," Head of Aviation Caucus at the House of Representatives (DPR), Alvin Lie, told VIVAnews on Thursday, Feb 5.
Lie questions the auditing system that Australia applies. According to the politician of the National Mandate Party (PAN), the foreign auditing team should have audited the aviation system in Garuda instead of reviewing the way the professional pilots work.
"It means that they [the safety auditing team] do not have confidence over the license the pilots have. It means that they are doubting over the performance of Garuda's pilots," said Lie.
Lie urged the government, especially the Department of Transportation, to provide a clarification. He queried whether or not the foreign safety auditing team owned a certification to enter Garuda Indonesia's cockpit.
